On the last day of February, I wanted to highlight one of the many ways that we have celebrated Black History Month in our music classroom! This bulletin board, inspired by @Random Acts of Orff, has been available for our students to explore. There are so many amazing Black artists that it was quite the challenge to only choose a few for our board, but this seemed to be a good mix of artists that our students are familiar with and may have not been introduced to yet. Each musician has at least one QR code that connects to a YouTube link for that artist. I'll add some of the links below!

Our Third and Fourth Graders learned about the upcoming Super Bowl and some of the music that we will hear. We talked about the National Anthem, yes, but we also talked about America the Beautiful and Lift Every Voice and Sing and why those songs are also important to watch and have knowledge about. Our students were overwhelmingly interested in learning more about the Super Bowl and the musicians we expect to see! We also did some Superbowl Freeze Dancing: Our Fourth Graders also started our pre-recorder preparation! We began to work through our Recorder Classroom slide deck practicing our procedure using xylophones instead of recorders:
1) Speak the song using rhythms (ta, titi, two-o, watermelon, shh) 2) Sing the song using the words 3) Play the song on the instrument |
